# Job Descriptions

A job description's job is to attract the right candidate and repel the wrong one. Vague "rockstar ninja" postings attract everyone and filter no one — you drown in unqualified applications.

## Required content
- **The actual work.** What they'll do day-to-week, concretely. Not "drive initiatives" — "own the onboarding funnel, currently converting at 23%".
- **Impact measure.** How success is judged. "Own and grow the metric."
- **Must-have vs nice-to-have.** Separate clearly. Listing 20 "requirements" filters out good candidates who don't tick every box.
- **Realistic about level.** A "senior" role needing 2 years' experience signals confusion about what senior means.

## Avoid
- Generic boilerplate ("fast-paced environment", "wear many hats"). It says nothing and signals nothing.
- Exclusionary language. "Rockstar", "ninja", "digital native" filter for culture fit the wrong way and invite bias.
